I've used a die from La La Land craft for the spider webs and covered the webs with black soot distress paint and glitter. The skull flower is from making memories and the roses from Prima. Ribbon from May Arts and Really reasonable ribbon. Corked vial and wish bone from Tim Holtz.

Paper piecing

Saturated Canary have paper piecing as a challenge this week. I've never tried this technique before, but it was quite fun. Used the "Hatress" image and paper pieced most of her dress using design papers from Graphic 45's Hallowe'en in Wonderland collection. Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, Prima and Petaloo. The metallic flowers are dyed using a mixture of Arabic gum, pigments from Luminarte and Distress Ink refills. Key hole and chipboard from G45, metallic leaves from Prima mechanicals and ribbon from RRR. Distressed edges of the papers and inked with Distress Ink - Gathered Twigs. Colored with Copic markers. Used this week's sketch from Sketchy colors.

Tim Holtz May tag 2013

This has been a busy, busy month. I defended my doctoral thesis last Friday and can finally call myself a doctor! Everything went well and we had a nice celebration dinner in the evening. I'm just so relieved that it is over. My Mac actually broke down the day after my dissertation, and it turned out that fixing it would cost me almost as much as buying a new one. So here I am, writing my first blog post on my brand new Mac. I actually didn't think I would be making the May tag this month, but today I finally found the time and inspiration, and here it is. Since I love steampunk, I chose a steampunk color palette.

Distress stains: Vintage photo, tea dye, peacock feathers, evergreen bough, broken china, tarnished brass
Distress ink: Walnut stain

Bo Bunny May Layout Challenge

Bo Bunny's May layout challenge is "Use a book title in your layout". I used the title "Where the wild things are".

Papers are from the Bo Bunny Zoology collection. I am not a big fan of zoos, but I am a big fan of wildlife and these papers are brilliant for that as well. I love the muted colors of this collection. I'm dreaming about going on an African Safari and have kind of been saving this collection for that purpose. However, the safari hasn't happened yet, and I couldn't resist to use some of the papers for my trip to the Amazonas rainforest two years ago (yes, I'm a little behind on my scrapbooking...). I love the rainforest! All the sounds, the smells, the greenery, the humid air, the animals - it's magic!

Tim Holtz March tag

I've been so busy this month, but finally found the time to create Tim Holtz' March tag. I've followed his tag pretty close this time, but instead of tinsel I used a tiny piece of leftover felt for the bunny and I also used felt for the grass. It makes me insanely happy to use small leftover scraps! :) Don't have the grass die, but used a sharp scissor to cut tiny triangles from the felt. Instead of foliage flowers, I used the Tattered Flowers Garland Die to cut flowers from paper. The ribbon is yellow seam binding ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and the beautiful fence is a die from Memory Box. Also used the small Martha Stewart Monarch butterfly punch.

Graphic 45 Design Team 2013 Audition

Here it goes! My submission for the Graphic 45 Design Team 2013. I've only been paper crafting for one and a half year and Graphic 45 is the very reason for my obsession with papers and glue! I was visiting my sister (who is an avid paper crafter) in Minnesota and she introduced med to Graphic 45 (and Copic markers). I immediately fell in love with the Hallowe'en in Wonderland and Magic of Oz collection, not to mention Steampunk Debutante. I love making cards, layouts and altered items with G45 papers and their beautiful metal staples. Graphic 45 is unique in the paper crafting world and my #1 favorite paper crafting company. To be on their design team would be a dream come true.

Thank you for you consideration.
